Remove your Mask: You will like what you find

I have said that I do not like Halloween.

Why?

I just do not understand glorifying death. I cannot understand promoting people being mean to each other.

Until I thought about the opportunity it provides me.

The opportunity is to look at the masks I have worn over the years. These are masks of trying to be extroverted when I was really introverted, being angry when I was really sad, or being happy when I was hurting.

We all have masks. I certainly have mine.

I have done a lot of work on myself to allow myself to show more of my true self to the world.

When I remove my masks, I see this very complex person, who at times doesn’t quite know to navigate through life. My fears have prevented me from taking on things that I would have taken on.

In the past year and a half, I have taken off another mask. That is the mask of inadequacy. This mask prevented me from writing for years. It kept me stuck in my head. It stopped me from writing.

What masks are you wearing today? What if you removed them? What are you hiding?

I believe that what you are hiding is beautiful. I bet that you have a special and wonderful gift that the world needs to see. I bet that your fears are not warranted, and that you are way more amazing than you ever thought you were.

This Halloween, I invite you to take off your masks, and show the world the real you.

The world will be glad you did.
