We all have those days. The kind when you wake up and you’re just not feeling well. Either you’re not feeling well physically, or you’re feeling stressed about something going on in your life or the life of a loved one. It happens to all of us because we are human. It’s just life.

How you do cope when you either don’t want to, or you think you can’t?

I had a day like this recently. I was dealing with some health issues, but I didn’t feel so bad that I needed to stay in bed. It was Saturday. It was time to go scuba diving with my wife and friends. I was on the fence about whether I should go or not.

When it came time to jump in, I decided that while not feeling perfect, I would be OK to do the dive. About ten minutes into the dive, I realized that I was not able to complete the dive. Therefore, I surfaced and went back on the boat.

The lesson in all of this is that I am getting better at listening to my body. Fortunately, I have been trained well in scuba diving to know how to take care of myself when I don’t feel well underwater. I would never continue to dive if I didn’t feel well. That’s not safe.
